Live Performance Reviews
Hopewell Music & Arts Festival live performance review - Daysahead
"Special guest Daysahead is fresh, new, exciting, melodic, soulful, classic, jazz, and very cool. I especially like the chemistry between the artists and how they bridge phrases. Steve laid the licks down just right in his improvisations....I could listen to him forever. Kim's talent just blows me away....I get lost in her voice. Daysahead has a jazz-rock-soul sound all their own...this band brought good music crossing all ages, genders, and cultures. It's what the people, young and old, want and need to hear."
Apache Cafe' live performance review - Daysahead
"Days Ahead...fusing funk, jazz, and rock into a tastey blend that just doesn't sound like anything else... think Mother's Finest-meets-Incognito. There isn't a dull moment at a Days Ahead show...a great new band...seasoned musicians...this band is HOT!"

Contemporary Jazz Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"Turning Point by Daysahead features the compelling voice of Kim Leachman and energetic artistry of guitarist Steve Wright...near perfect marriage artistically...high energy music with lyrical substance that “rocks” embroidered with the fabric of jazz, soul and occasional Latin influences...“Tuck and Patti” reincarnated in a quartet setting."
SoulTracks Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"...one listen their eclectic, engaging brand of music shows that this is an original group bursting with its own distinct style...Using Wright’s electric guitar as the musical centerpiece...Leachman, a wonderful smoky-voiced singer...the common theme (is) strong instrumentation and the "live" feel of the performance...the band is top notch and keeps the whole album sounding immediate...Turning Point (is) a great showcase for their expansive vision of popular music."
Jazz-not-Jazz Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"Daysahead is a band that has truly developed their own sound that sets them apart from the rest of the new/neo/nu soul movement. What may sound odd at first is that they hardly use any keys on their debut album Turning Point. Instead, they rely on the strength of guitar (acoustic and electric), bass and drums and of course on the impressive voice of Kim Leachman. And it's this combination of musical instruments and Daysahead's own blend of soul, funk, and rock that is a welcome breath of fresh air in today's music scene...a distinctive sound that's left field from the soul mainstream in a refreshing way."
RhythmFlow Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"...Daysahead makes their mark on the scene, with an album, "Turning Point", that’s soulful and revives the spirit of the golden era of R and B/Soul bands of the 70's and 80's...(the band) boasts a sound that criss-crosses R and B, jazz, funk and rock to create an intricate and intriguing musical stew...a sound that’s both contemporary and timeless. With an air-tight band and a bewitching front woman "Turning Point" has a sound that should definitely take this outfit far..."
Funkjunkiez cd review - Turning Point
"Turning Point"...deliberately seek to cross the genre boundaries...touching, emotive and walks the line between jazz and soul quite sublimely...Kim’s vocals are strong and vibrant and the jazzy riffs are quite catchy...excellent musicians and a great vocal talent...remind you of The Brand New Heavies...I can foresee nothing but successful Days Ahead."
The Jazz Pages cd review - Turning Point
"...a tension-loaded Mixture of Jazz, Pop and Soul. The singer Kim Leachman oscillates between gefuehliger Ballade and furioser jazz improvisation. Steve Wright gives that and those retains whole spice and sharpness..."
RockWired Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"Daysahead is all about chemistry; that often times elusive element that makes everything come together. It is the combination of vocalist KIM LEACHMAN's impressive command of that indefinable voice that goes from gospel, to soul, to jazz and to rock in a seconds notice, and the dexterity of guitarist and partner-in-crime STEVE WRIGHT. Who knew such sounds, textures, and imagination could come from just six strings."
Life & Soul Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"(Turning Point) is one of those (cds) that is commendable for pushing out the barriers, deserves to be heard, would be excellent to see live...sultry, sensual soulful powerful...it's not often guitars have such prominence in Soul but it works...(and) the power and strength of Kim's vocals that sell it..."
DJ Frank Matheis cd review - Turning Point
"Daysahead has a very cool vibe and sweet beat that crosses boundaries and shakes up the soul. The singing is just simply captivating. I like the way these folks keep the old Soul and Rhythm and Blues sound while branching out in new ways. An awesome record that keeps your foot tapping non-stop."
Sure Shot Magazine cd review - Turning Point
"From the start, I fell into Daysahead's sound...it's one of those feel good CDs...it kept my attention from the jump. Kim Leachman has the voice of an angel. Steve Wright riffs on his 'Lucille'...hot act in the Jazz/Rhythm and Blues market."

Daysahead @ Jazz In The Garden - "EXPLORED"
"I liked the Daysahead photo because I caught the singer in a moment that seemed so soulful. She seems so lost in the music that it almost feels like I'm intruding on something private." Brian Oh
Brian Oh, a Washington D.C. photographer, captured Daysahead (see photo below) performing at the 2009 "Jazz in the Garden" National Gallery. The photo, titled "Explored", was the winning photo and featured in The Washingtonian magazine's September 2009 issue.
