International indie artists Daysahead are currently hard at work writing and recording their next studio album, "Two Faces"! Daysahead’s musical style, coined as “Jazz-n-Roll”: a jazz approach to rock and soul, has rocked both US coasts as well as overseas.
“Daysahead's sound is the combination of vocalist Kim Leachman's impressive command of that indefinable voice that goes from gospel, to soul, to jazz and to rock in a seconds notice; and the dexterity of guitarist and partner-in-crime Steve Wright. Who knew such sounds, textures, and imagination could come from just six strings." (Rockwired)
Daysahead was founded by recent newlyweds guitarist/producer/songwriter Steve Wright (Richmond, VA) & vocalist/lyricist/songwriter Kim Leachman (Baton Rouge, LA) in 2003. The duo’s unique approach to songwriting and arranging has attracted a diverse and loyal following of fans from around the world.
Daysahead has showcased their debut cd “Turning Point” to enthusiastic fans along the east coast and mid west USA, and abroad. Daysahead performed for the week-long annual Intwasa Arts Festival in Zimbabwe, Africa. They were honored to be the only American group invited to represent the U.S. Embassy, and along with their performances conducted master-classes for the festival attendees.
Since the release of their debut cd “Turning Point”, Daysahead has received continual radio play throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan on terrestrial radio stations and internet radio. Daysahead was nominated Best Duo/Group of the year by SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, and Best Band & Best Album of the year by RockWired Awards. Daysahead has been featured live on several broadcasts: TBS "StoryLine Soundstage", CBS "Better Mornings", Zimbabwe TV, and Bravo TV.
“Daysahead's debut cd Turning Point revives the spirit of the golden era of bands from the 70's & 80's criss-crossing jazz, funk and rock into a sound that's both contemporary and timeless….an air-tight band and a bewitching front woman.” (RhythmFlow)
Daysahead has performed many festivals and high profile events: Capital Jazz Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Intwasa Arts Festival Zimbabwe, Montreux Jazz Festival, Capital Jazz Supercruise to Bermuda, New York Harborfest, Capital BBQ Battle Fest, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Mobile Bayfest Music Festival, Richmond Fine Arts Music Festival, CNN release party, Maya Angelou’s 80th Birthday Party, Atlanta BeltLine to name a few. Daysahead has performed with some of the best in the business: Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Gnarls Barkley, The Brand New Heavies, Patti Austin, Al Green, and many more.
Additionally, Kim wrapped up a 2011 European summer tour as background singer for America’s legendary Disco Queen Gloria Gaynor, and Steve made a guest appearance in the major motion film "The Three Stooges" to be released spring 2012.
Steve and Kim are excited about their upcoming release, titled "Two Faces" and the music will be an even broader extension of their already vast artistic style. Fans eagerly await Daysahead’s next musical chapter.
“Our sophomore release will feature the growth we’ve experienced over the years; as individuals, as a couple, and as musical artists. Understanding our true nature and everyone's connection to that single source while pursuing our personal legends is our life's joy.” (Steve & Kim Wright)
